Build Spotlight: Mike T. Kerr’s Mystic Standard LG004

I reckon I’m long overdue to get a blog up and running where I can feature individual builds with detailed specs as well as various news and happenings. What better place to start than Mike T. Kerr‘s Mystic? This guitar has the highest mileage on the odometer out of anything I’ve built, working night in night out on Toronto’s jazz circuit, touring, recording, etc.

Here are the specs:

• Body: one piece butternut crotch
• Neck: quartersawn curly maple, chunky C carve
• Fretboard: black walnut with hand cut acrylic pearl inlays, 25.5″ scale, 12″ radius
• Frets: 22 Jescar 55090 stainless steel
• Pickups: custom Gemini P90s
• Bridge: Schroeder
• Tuners: Kluson Supreme
• Pickguard: NOS dark tortoise cellulose acetate (matching control cavity cover)
• Electronics: 250k CTS pots, Switchcraft toggle and jack, .473uf Orange Drop capacitor
• All salvaged woods
